Skylar Grey from Wisconsin-Madison and AJ Stewart (from Seattle Unversity – soon to be the AMS Congressional Fellow) are submitting a proposal to SIAM for an activity group in Quantitative Justice.

If you aren’t aware, SIAM activity groups are a really great infrastructure for research and community in specific topics. In order for the SIAM board to approve the creation of the group we need to collect signatures.

The following is paraphrased from an announcement they recently sent.

There have been several recent workshops on Justice, Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion (JEDI) including an ICERM Hot Topics workshop and an SMB workshop. One of the ideas that has come out of these workshops is to form a longer-term group to connect and support the many wonderful people doing this work already and encourage more people to get involved. To this end, we are proposing a SIAM Activity Group on Quantitative Justice.

To convince the SIAM council to approve this new SIAG, we need signatures of people who want to join. If you’re interested, please fill out this Google Form with your information. (If that link doesn’t work for you, please copy and paste this URL into your browser:

The deadline to submit this proposal is approaching, so please submit your information by 13 April. We are also looking for volunteers to serve as the first set of officers for this SIAG and guide it through a successful launch. If you would like to volunteer, please indicate this on the form. Descriptions of officer duties are at the top of the Form and more details are available on this SIAM page. (If that link doesn’t work for you, please copy and paste this URL into your browser: )
